Ty lay watching Alex sleeping in her arms. The night hadn’t gone as she had imagined when she got on the bus, concerned for Alex’s mood. And now here they were, back in bed. But they had talked about starting a relationship. Was that what she wanted? Being with Alex made her feel like she didn’t want to be alone any longer. And if that was all that was on the line, she could imagine being able to take it slowly, building trust as they went. Alex the person was everything she could ask for.

But then there was Alex the celebrity to deal with and going slow wasn’t really an option with her lifestyle. It had taken Ty years to get over the panic attacks, and being with DandyLions had allowed her to ease her way slowly back into performing and facing media attention. But being with Alex would push that to a whole other level and just the thought of it made Ty’s heart start to race, and not in a good way.

And was Alex really ready to come out to the world? Ty guessed the longer you spent hiding who you were, the harder it would be. But that was something she could only support Alex with. The decision, and how she managed it, rested solely with Alex.

She must have dropped off to sleep, because she drifted into awareness to a very pleasant sensation. She stirred and reached down to run her hand through Alex’s short hair as her tongue flicked her nipple.

Alex looked up, her eyes heavy-lidded. “We’re just getting into Memphis. It’s morning.”

“I could get used to this kind of wake-up call.”

Alex winked. “That can be easily arranged.” She moved up and captured Tyra's mouth with her own and the conversation stopped for a while as they explored each other more leisurely than they had the night before.

Later, Alex lay behind her, kissing her shoulders. “Being with you gives me strength. I need you to believe I will make this work.”

Ty rolled over and looked her in the eyes. “I do believe you. We’ve both got a few things we need to get our heads around but if we keep talking, we can get through it.” She didn’t know if that was true, but it felt more doable if they both believed it. She focused on the immediate future. “Can I see you this week? I know you'll have plans, but when you've nothing else on, I mean. A week away from you nearly killed me before. I had to walk myself to exhaustion every day just to try and get some sleep.”

Alex leaned on her elbow, a little smirk on her lips. “I have nothing as important as being with you. I've been wanting to ask you to spend the week with me, but I didn't want to be disappointed. And it’s good for my ego that you thought of me that much while I was pining over you in New York.”

Ty felt her heart beat a little faster.
